Dermal Filler FAQ'S
What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers are injectable treatments designed to restore lost volume, smooth wrinkles, and enhance natural facial contours. Results are often visible immediately, with full results developing over the following weeks. Longevity varies by product and treatment area, typically lasting 6–24 months.
Fillers can be used to:
-
Enhance and shape the lips
-
Restore cheek volume
-
Smooth smile lines and marionette lines
-
Improve under-eye hollows
-
Define the jawline and facial contours
What should I expect?
Your appointment begins with a personalized consultation to discuss your goals and create a customized treatment plan. The procedure usually takes 10–15 minutes, depending on the area treated. Discomfort is minimal, and a topical numbing cream may be used.
There is little to no downtime, making fillers a convenient option for busy schedules. Most patients see immediate improvement, with results that look natural, balanced, and refreshed.
Are dermal fillers safe?
Yes. Dermal fillers are safe when performed by a qualified, experienced provider. As with any medical procedure, there are potential risks and side effects, which will be reviewed with you during your consultation.
How Long Do Dermal Fillers Last?
Results typically last 6–12 months, depending on the type of filler used and individual factors such as metabolism and lifestyle.
How Soon Will I See Results?
Results are often visible immediately after treatment. Mild swelling or redness may temporarily affect appearance, but once it subsides, your final results will become more noticeable.
Can Dermal Fillers Be Reversed?
Yes. Certain fillers—specifically hyaluronic acid–based fillers—can be safely reversed using an enzyme called hyaluronidase if needed. This enzyme dissolves the filler more quickly in cases where adjustments are desired. At Plimoth Aesthetic Studio only hyaluronic acid filler are used.
How Often Will I Need Touch-Ups?
Touch-up frequency varies based on the type of filler used and individual factors. Most patients choose maintenance treatments every 6–12 months to maintain their results.
